Arable farming: the core of our circular economy
In the north of the state of Thuringia we cultivate approximately 2,000 hectares of agricultural land, of which approximately 400 hectares are grassland. Our territory is bordered by the mountain ranges of the Harz and the Hainleite in the north and south, and the vast plains of Eichsfeld and the Goldene Aue in the east and west.
Our arable farming mainly focuses on producing grain, energy and oil crops. We attach great importance to the careful management of our natural resources, such as soil and water, as well as to the conservation of the surrounding nature. We want to maintain our livelihood and continue to use it in the future. Our main crops include cereals such as wheat, barley and triticale, along with rapeseed and corn. In addition, sunflowers, various summer grains and flowering crops are also grown on our arable land, which break the crop rotation and contribute to biodiversity.
